A Healthy Life

Yoga is a Hindu theistic philosophy teaching the suppression of all activity of body, mind, and will in order that the self may realize its distinction from them and attain liberation.

I believe that a healthy lifestyle starts with acceptance and self awareness about where you are in the present moment. The 8 limbs of yoga teaches us that in order to grow and attain our goals, we must first acknowledge and accept where we are. In Sanskrit this is Santosha (contentment). Then the practice of Svadhyaya (study of self) is the next step. The practice of yoga, which means to yoke, unites mind body and spirit with pranayama, (control of the breath) and asana (movement). As your practice becomes more consistent, you start to notice changes both on and off your mat.
